Special Edition: Gov. Wolf's state budget proposal

From day one, Gov. Tom Wolf has made public education his top priority. He’s continuing that commitment in the proposed state budget he unveiled today.

Since taking office, Gov. Wolf has worked with Democrats and Republicans to reverse school funding cuts, invest in our public schools, enact a new school funding formula, and reduce the amount of time our students spend on standardized tests.

Here’s what you need to know about Gov. Wolf’s budget proposal

Gov. Wolf’s state budget proposal includes:

  • $100 million increase in basic education funding.
  • $20 million increase in special education funding.
  • $40 million increase in pre-kindergarten and Head Start funding.
  • $60 million increase in career and technical education initiatives, including a $10 million increase in the career and technical education subsidy.
