Attention PSERS members: Notice of email scam

The Public School Employees' Retirement System's (PSERS) recently learned that some PSERS members have received fraudulent a email claiming to originate from "PSERS Retirement System."

The subject line of the fraudulent email is "3 PSERS Retirement System Alerts." The text of the message includes inaccurate information regarding "funds at risk due to stock market declines, scholarship program availability and scheduling a retirement planning session with PSERS." The email includes links relating to the individual topics presented, which redirect the user to websites not affiliated with PSERS or the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

If you receive a message like this or another potentially fraudulent message:

  • Do not reply to the email
  • Do not click on links contained in the email
  • Do not call phone numbers provided in the email
  • Delete the message immediately

Fraudulent emails, often referred to as "phishing" emails, direct you to spoof websites – which look real but whose purpose is to steal your information.

If you have concerns or questions about your PSERS account, contact PSERS directly by visiting or calling 1-888-773-7748.
