PSEA teams up with the Eagles Charitable Foundation to give Upper Darby students free eye exams and glasses

PSEA and the Upper Darby Education Support Professionals hosted the Eagles Eye Mobile at Upper Darby Community Day this fall.

The Eagles Eye Mobile, operated by the Eagles Charitable Foundation, gives students in need the opportunity to have an eye exam and have glasses made on site at no cost.

Twenty-two Upper Darby students received free eye exams and new glasses at the event.

“Eighty percent of learning in school is visual,” said Denise Kennedy, a secretary at Garrettford Elementary school and event organizer for UDESPA.  “Twenty percent of school age children have vision problems that impair academic performance because they cannot properly see the board or their books. Many vision problems can be caught by a simple vision exam, but many low income children go without this vital exam.

PSEA is a proud sponsor of the Eagles Charitable Foundation.
