Technology & Your Profession

Tech Policy boxWe are in the midst of a Technology Age. The way we communicate with our students, our peers, and our families and friends changes almost everyday. Ten years ago, "texting," "YouTube," "Facebook," and "blogging" were not discussed in schools, classrooms, teachers' lounges or breakfast tables - today they are everywhere, as the list continues to grow.

Educators use new technology in their classrooms, in their careers, and in their personal lives. While these new methods of communication open up vast worlds and networks, understanding new technology and how it works is important to avoiding potential problems. Some basic knowledge about this world of new media can help you protect your job, stay connected to friends, colleagues and education issues, and keep you ahead of the technology curve.

Learn how text messagesblogs, and social media sites work, how to use them safely, and how to make them work for you.

This section includes common terms and definitions for technology jargon, information on how PSEA members can use these resources effectively, and how to protect themselves from problems.
